OLLI: Fundamentals of 3D Printing

Are you curious about what it means to print something in 3D? This course will let you explore the basics of how we can produce a physical object from a digital computer file. Participants will have the opportunity to create and print their own .stl files using the library's 3D printers. Through this process, you will learn about how a 3D printer works and ways that this technology is being applied to implement real-world solutions. No previous 3D printing experience is required, but attendees should be proficient in using a laptop and mouse.

Presenter: Jeff Beavers is the Director of the Conway Public Library and leads weekly STEAM programs for kids and teens that teach 3D printing, robotics, coding, and more. He first began using 3D printers over a decade ago when helping to establish one of Virginia's first public library Makerspaces. The Conway Public Library has offered 3D printing services to the public for several years now and currently has 3 Bambu Labs printers that can produce products in many different materials and colors.
