Poetry Group

The Writer/Poetry Group, where fellow lovers of poetry are encouraged to come write and read their own poetry or recite poems from their favorite authors. The poetry group will start off with a mini-workshop for about 15 to 20 minutes followed up by short 5 minute readings. Different ways of expression will be explored as the group encourages and supports each other. Short stories are also welcome given they can be completed within the time allowance.

The  Poetry Group will meet every 1st Thursday of the month; with a focus on a particular theme. Listed below are a few future themes to get the creative juices flowing.

The Creator of the Writer/Poetry Group will be Denise Collette, who is a writer/poet herself. In 2011, she began writing poetry with Pittsburgh (PA) Writers' Studio. Denise's poetry consists of mythic, meditative, and various themes on nature. She had the honor of being the winner of the Maggie H Meyer's Poetry Contest in 2013 and some of her writing has been published in a few journals. She is looking forward to sharing her experiences with others and hopefully creating a lasting poetry group in the valley.
