Poetry Signing Event: Local Poet Courtney Peare

In Bolton Strid, Local Poet Courtney Peare invited readers into a world of grief, anger, confusion, longing, hope, regret, and shame. Through primarily free verse, the collection of poems explore self-sabotage, mental health, self-awareness, coming face to face with one’s shadow, and traveling an unkept road to acceptancee. Courtney will share readings from her debut collection, and talk about her writing journey.

Inspired by making mistakes with lasting consequences, diving into eye movement desensitization and reprocessing therapy to chip away at deeply embedded trauma, and learning how untreated trauma can run the show and affect every aspect of one’s life without one being conscience of it--
Bolton Strid focuses on a critical year in the author's life, where it got significantly worse fast and better slowly. The poems delve into the ugliest, most vulnerable and sensitive parts of the soul, and encourages readers to get to know their inner child, hold on through their own storms and learn to live with their demons instead of trying to deny their existence.

Afterwards there will be a Q&A and a book signing of her poetry. Books will be available for purchase at the event.
