Russ Lanoie will share a slide show and describe his adventures on Vancouver Island, British Columbia. Why Vancouver Island? Located off the southwest western coast of Canada it has exceptional beauty and charm and an unusually warm climate. This presentation will provide a brief tour around the Victoria, the provincial capital of British Columbia but focus primarily on the unequaled floral displays of Butchart Gardens that draw over one million visitors from all over the world each year.

In celebration of National Poetry Month, all are invited to attend or participate in the annual poetry and story slam here at the library. All writing and story telling abilities are welcome to take part, and mature audiences (teens and older) are encouraged to attend. Learn more about story telling at www.themoth.org. Artist, Kristine Foster Carbone will lead middle school students through the creative process of recycling discarded plastic into beautiful art, using a variety of supplies provided. Participants will come away with a unique product to display and take home. FREE! For more information call 447-5552.
Kristine has a degree from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston, and ample experience working with middle and elementary school-age students.
