On May 31st, from 11:00 am to 1:00 pm, students from the local elementary schools will be in the library learning about what it means to be a librarian! There will be hands-on activities and time to ask questions and explore what it means to work as a librarian!
On Saturdays, at 11:30 am all are welcome to join Dixie Lea for an hour of yoga in the sunshine. Starting on May 25th to July. Bring your own water bottle, towel, and mat. Donations appreciated.
On the 1st Wednesday of the Month, starting at 4:00pm, either in the Ham Room or in the YA Area. The Teen Leadership Council aims to give the Library a new perspective on youth and youth a new perspective on libraries. TLC members play a critical role in developing the Library's young adult collection, young adult outreach, event planning & marketing, and making the Library a friendlier and more welcoming place for young adults.

College Prep & Job Searches

  • College Prep 101 is another great source for all levels of college prep, from help on the standardized tests to checklists on what to pack for your first semester. It’s also an extremely well-built and easy-to-navigate site.
  • StudentAid.ed.gov (formerly College.gov) is the federal government’s website explaining all kinds of financial aid, including the kinds you might be eligible for, how to apply for it, and how to deal with student loans.
  • CollegeBoard is a fantastic site to look up colleges, test prep, financial aid information, and all sorts of articles related to college prep. It’s definitely worth clicking through. (Their college prep section is called “BigFuture”)
  • Peterson’s is one of the classics, and there’s a reason it’s persisted all these years. It’s a good starting place for when you’re still trying to figure out your next step. For more in-depth information, they also publish books.
