Let's get into the spirit of the holiday season. Jump back into the Christmas past with Bob Cottrell as he tells us about the first Christmas of 1539, where Hernando de Soto, a dozen Catholic priests, and around 600 Spanish explorers celebrated. Bob will then travel through time to the Christmas present day of how Conway celebrates this holiday.
Jump back into the past, to the first Thanksgiving of 1565 in St. Augustine in Spanish La Florida, and travel through time to the present day of this special Holiday. Bob Cottrell will go into details of how we get food from the farm onto the table. This is a holiday in which we can enjoy a couple of days off work and focus on food, parade, friends, and family. It has a much less commercial nature to it than many other holidays.
Can you believe it? David McPhail is coming to Conway! He will talk about his life and work as well as give a drawing demonstration, all in celebration of his new book, Truffle, which will be available for purchase and signing, with help from White Birch Books in North Conway. Don't miss this rare opportunity to meet a very accomplished children's book creator up close and personal! http://davidmcphailillustrations.com/index.html
