"Our Abenaki Heritage" program garnered a standing room only audience and was a fun and informative look at local Abenaki history and culture. If you missed the presentation it will be aired on Valley Vision and the powerpoint presentation used by Bob Cottrell and Lee Pollock will be made available to anyone who is interested.
Also, check out our Winter Wonderland Display and ask Bob for winter fun facts about Chinook dogs and the skimobile at Cranmore Mountain. When the Swiss government refused to share its chairlift technology, Harvey Dow Gibson contracted a local mechanic, George Morton, of Bartlett, and sent him across the country to observe other ski areas and then devise his own system for transporting skiiers to the top of Cranmore and the idea for the skimobile was born!
Check out some great historic video of the skimobile in action:

The original charter for the Town of Conway is dated October 1765. Janet McAllister Hounsell’s Conway, New Hampshire 1765-1987 (Portsmouth, NH: Peter Randall Publisher, 1998; ISBN 0-914339-77-X) provides an excellent account of the town’s long history.
